Harry Lines Jr was born on December 20, 1917 to Harry and Addie (Brandenburg) Lines and departed life on August 22, 2011 at the Villa Teresa Haven in O' Fallon, MO at the age of 93.
Harry married Katherine (Ziegler) on October 6, 1956 in Collyer, KS. She preceded him in death along with his siblings Alvin, Charlie, Pauline, Alice (Gilbert), Wilma (Ikenberry), Doris (Simpson) and nephew and step son-in-law, Maurice Lines.
He was the beloved stepdad to Virginia Lines and Grandpa to Mark Lines, Bruce Lines and Brenda (Lines) Wilson, Great-grandpa to Mariah Lines, Zac Wilson and Audrey Wilson.
Harry was a graduate of Quinter High School with the class of 1935 and Dodge City School of Business. He then served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. When he returned from the service, he farmed the family homestead southwest of Quinter, until he and Katherine retired and moved into Quinter in 1998.
Harry was very active in the American Legion for many years and on any Memorial Day you could find him putting out flags at the cemetery and helping with the services. He was also involved for years serving on the Quinter Endowment Association. He was known to all as simply, "Jr." and had a great love for his family, friends and Quinter.
Visitation is 5-6:30 PM Friday, August 26, 2011 in Schmitt Funeral Home at Quinter. Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the United Methodist Church at Quinter. Interment is in Baker Township Cemetery, also in Quinter.
