Gwendolyn (Gwen) Lee (Phillips) McCartee 85, of Marionville, Missouri, passed away on May 25, 2022. Gwen was born at home in WaKeeney, Kansas on August 1 ^st , 1936. She graduated from Utica High School in Utica, Kansas.

Gwen was united in marriage to Verlon E. McCartee on January 9, 1955.  They were married for 28 years.  She worked as a cashier for Sutherland lumber for a number of years.  The most joy in her life was her grandkids and her great grandkids.

Gwen is survived by her children, Teresa Lester and husband Gary of Bellevue, Nebraska, Troki Brill and husband Michael of Marionville, Missouri; sisters Norma Harvey of WaKeeney, Kansas, and Vicki James of Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law Beverly McCartee of Pueblo, Colorado; grandkids Aaron Lester and wife Shana of Bellevue, Nebraska, Amber Urich and husband Aaron of DeSoto, Missouri, Kevin Thompson of Marionville, Missouri; great-grandkids, Daniel, Daylon, and Brady Lester, Kelsey, Kimberly and Brock Urich and Kaylie, Lexie, Mason, Jayden and Kaleb Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephew.

Gwen was preceded in death by husband Verlon McCartee; parents Ila and Richard Phillips; mother and father-in-law Anne and Ralph McCartee; and brothers-in-law Marvin, Lyle, Lavon and Larry McCartee.

Graveside service will be held at 1 pm June 3 ^rd 2022, at Utica Cemetery, Utica, Kansas.
