Obituary

Glen A. Bliss, age 75, of WaKeeney, passed away, Friday, May 31, 2013 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. He was born March 8, 1938, on the family farm southwest of Ogallah, the son of Clarence and Anna (May) Bliss. Glen grew up in the Ogallah area and was a 1956 graduate of Trego Community High School.

On May 28, 1960, Glen married Twila Eberle at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Glen was a truck driver for Schreiner's Service Station for several years. After their marriage, Glen and Twila moved north of Ogallah, where Glen worked for Hugh Faulkner on the farm. In 1999, Glen retired and moved to WaKeeney. He joined the Trego County Rural Fire Department, and proudly served as a fireman until retirement. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, having achieved the fourth degree. He was also a proud member of the Eagles Lodge #3774 in WaKeeney.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, three sons Clarence Bliss and wife Conni of WaKeeney, Glen Alan Bliss and wife Chris and Dan Bliss and wife Michaelle, both of Ogallah; one daughter Jolene and husband Ed Deges of WaKeeney; one brother Art Bliss and wife Annie of Richmond, Texas; one sister Francis Elliot of WaKeeney; thirteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Donald Bliss; a grandson Jarrod Bliss; two nephews; and special friends Hugh and Agnes Faulkner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father Donald F. Pfannenstiel as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a parish vigil service immediately following at 7:00 p.m., both at Schmitt Funeral Home of WaKeeney.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Walk-A-Thon for Health or Trego County Rural Fire Department, and may be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
