Obituary

Georgia Laura Splitter was born at home on June 5, 1945, in rural Trego County, KS. She was the fourth of five children born to the late George N. and Christina (Bongartz) Crawford. She passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney at the age of 66.


She attended country schools and graduated from the Ellis High School with the class of 1963.


On August 30, 1969, Georgia was united in marriage to Gene Splitter in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Ellis. Together they farmed in Trego County. Gene passed away June 28, 2002.

Georgia was very active in her children's activities. She served as a 4-H community leader and taught youth CCD classes in Trego County. In her spare time, she made many baby blankets for her children and grandchildren and other members of the community. She was also a member of St. Aloysius Church in Ransom.


Those left to mourn her passing are four sons, John and wife, Casey, of Oklahoma City, OK, Gene of Utica, Ben and wife, Brandi, of Beason, IL, William and wife, Lauren, of Whiting, IA; two daughters, Christina Royster, of Archie, MO, Helen Kennedy and husband, Jeremy, of Circleville, KS; eight grandchildren, Alyssa, John, Jr., Rhett, MaKenzie, Tyler, Cheyenne, Emmalyn, Byron; and a sister, Mary Garrison, Napa, CA.

Her husband, Gene; a twin brother, George Crawford, Jr.; and two sisters, Christina Waldschmidt and Marian Parke preceded her in death.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. Services for Georgia will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 12, 2012 in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, in Ransom with burial in the Utica City Cemetery.
