Genevieve K. Bellerive, 98, of St. Peter, passed away December 24, 2018, at the Logan Manor in Logan. Genevieve "Jenny" was born in Salina, to Conrad and Catherine (Brungardt) Rohleder on April 12, 1920. She was a graduate of Hays High School.
Jenny married Richard Bellerive on December 29, 1941, in Damar. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1999. They were married for 57 years. While Richard was serving in World War II and as a POW, she taught school southwest of St. Peter.
Jenny was a farm wife. She was a full partner in their farm. She milked the cows in their dairy, drove the tractor, fed cattle, drove trucks during harvest, etc. When not working on these tasks, her hobbies were gardening, reading, quilting and nurturing her family. She was an active member of the St. Anthony Christian Mothers, where she held numerous offices. She was also a retired board member of the Morland School District #280.
Genevieve is survived by daughters, Mary Connors of Toledo, OH; Ruth (Jerry) Goddard of Logan, KS; Karen (Kenny) Shepard of Penokee, KS; and Penny Staab of Hays, KS; son, Harold and Sandy Bellerive of St. Peter (Morland), KS; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Cletus (Evagene) Rohleder of Mesa, AZ; brother-in-law, Duane Snyder of Hutchinson, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; son, Donald; grandson, Lee Shepard; and brothers; Ben, Leonard and Dominic Rohleder.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Collyer, with Father Charles Steier officiating. If road conditions permit, burial will follow in the St. Anthony Cemetery, St. Peter, KS.
Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. A parish vigil service will follow at 7:00 p.m., also at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Masses, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Wounded Warriors Project. Donations to the organization may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12 th , WaKeeney, KS 67672.
