Gary Lee Werth, age 63, of rural Quinter, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter. He was born May 29, 1957 to George and Rosemary (Rohr) Werth. Gary graduated from Quinter High School in 1975. In 1980 he was married to Cindy Schreiner, and to this union were born three sons and a daughter.
Gary enjoyed life as a rancher and farmer. His great loves in life included God, family, cattle, and football. He was friends with cattlemen all over the country, and could talk cattle all day. His children remember checking cattle or fields with him for hours, with his Rosary always in hand. Gary was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a past member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church board in Collyer, Kansas, a past board member of the American Salers Association, and a past member of the Gove County Fair Board.
Gary is survived by his wife Cindy of the family home; sons Garrett (Kristal) Werth of Quinter, Brady (Jennifer) Werth of Colwich, Kansas, and Reid (Jessica) Werth of Quinter; daughter Kylie (Alec) Hampton of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren: Kennedy, Sydney, Colt, Madelynn, Maria, Brinley, Jordan, Paul, Karter, and Evie Werth, and Gianna Hampton; brother Tim (Mary) Werth of Overland Park, Kansas; and sisters Sharon Roberts of Manhattan, Kansas, Lunette Werth of Fort Collins, and Debra (David) Bisnette of Manhattan.
Preceding Gary in death were his parents; and brothers-in-law Steve Roberts and Bernard Schreiner.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter, with a vigil service and Rosary to follow.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, March 19, 2021, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Collyer, Kansas, with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Masses or Gove County Medical Center. Donations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 Main St. Quinter, Kansas, 67752.
