Obituary

Gary Lee Gorsky, 89, of Collyer, Kansas, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on June 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Gary was born on July 29, 1936, in Collyer, Kansas, to Julius E. and Elva E. Gorsky. He grew up alongside his Grandma and Grandpa Austin and carried the values of hard work, a good candy bar, and family throughout his life.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before building a successful career with King Soopers, where he worked his way into regional management. After retirement, Gary continued serving his community in local grocery stores, enjoying the friendships and conversations that came with helping others.

On September 6, 1958, Gary married the love of his life, Darlene Gorsky, and together they shared nearly 67 years of marriage. Their home was built on commitment, generosity, and unconditional love. In addition to raising their own children, Gary and Darlene opened their hearts and home to foster children throughout many years.

Gary found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved the farm, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with those he loved most. He never turned down a bowl of ice cream, especially when it came with peanuts and chocolate. Whether cheering on the Denver Broncos, lending a helping hand, or enjoying the company of family, Gary made people feel welcome and valued.

Those who knew Gary will remember his quiet strength, strong work ethic, and generous heart. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandpa, and a man who never knew a stranger.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Edwin Lee Gorsky and Thomas Lee Gorsky; and his brother, Larry Gorsky.

He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; his children, Darlonna White (Lance), Karla Jensen (Bruce), Linda Montgomery (Drew), Chris Rowlison, Mindy Gorsky, and Selena Gorsky; his brother, Edwin Gorsky (Dede); his sister, Gloria Kmiec; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster children, extended family members, and friends.
