Obituary
G. Wayne Griffin was born January 17, 1915, in Sterling, CO to the late Charles and Mae (Thompson) Griffin. He passed away, Friday, January 7, 2011, in the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care at Quinter, KS at the age of 95.
He graduated from Sterling High School in 1933. On October 17, 1941, he was united in marriage to Wovetta Blickenstaff in the First Church of the Brethren at Chicago, IL. Wovetta passed away December 20, 1994.
In his early years, Wayne worked as an accountant and a carpenter, and later sold real estate. They moved from Aurora, IL to Quinter in June of 1981, where he helped deliver farm equipment for Quinstar. He finally retired in 1984.
He was a faithful member of the Church of the Brethren in Quinter.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Griffin and wife, Barbara, of Oswego, IL.
His wife, Wovetta; a brother, Earl Griffin; and a sister, Grace Shockley, preceded him in death.
Visitation is 9:30 AM until time of Service at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in Church of the Brethren at Quinter, KS.
Memorials are suggested to the church and can be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
