Frances Oberle was born April 13, 1946, in rural Trego County, KS to Frank Engelbert and Anna Marie (Reitmeyer) Geschwentner. She passed away, Sunday, February 20, 2011 in the Hays Medical Center at the age of 64. She was a homemaker.
As a small child, Frances attended a country school east of Cedar Bluff Dam in rural Trego County named, Maple Grove. She completed grade school at Saint Mary School in Ellis. Her family moved to WaKeeney in 1962 where she attended Trego Community High School.
On June 6, 1964, Frances was united in marriage to Leon J. Oberle in Christ the King Catholic Church at WaKeeney.
Frances enjoyed going to garage sales, playing cards, and she loved the outdoors. She loved listening to country music and often drew sketches of cars, birds, and people.
Survivors include her mother, Anna Geschwentner, her husband, Leon, both of WaKeeney; three sons, Joe Oberle and wife, Michele, of Commerce City, CO, Kelly Oberle and Chris Oberle, both of WaKeeney; two brothers, Glenn 'Jimmy' Geschwentner of Russell, Joey Geschwentner of Quinter; and a grandson, Austin Berry of WaKeeney.
Her father, Frank; an adopted son, Terry Oberle; and three sisters, Mary Jane Augustine, Tillie Ann Geschwentner, and Helen Moos, preceded her in death.
Visitation for Frances will be 6-7:30 PM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 23, 2011 also in Schmitt Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Demoret officiating. Interment is in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
