Frances (Lang) Kahler passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011, in the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care at Quinter, KS, at the age of 88. She was born February 26, 1923, to William and Anna (Bittel) Lang, the oldest daughter of seven brothers and sisters.
She was raised and remained a Gove County resident her entire life. On July 27, 1941, Frances married Phillip Kahler in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Park, KS. To this marriage was born one child, Jo Ann Brown.
Frances was a lifetime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Collyer. She was a homemaker and worked for fifteen years at Dinkel's Cleaners. She also worked twelve years at the Gove County Medical Center.
Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, quilting at the senior center, and exercising. She walked or bicycled four miles a day.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Brown of Quinter; a granddaughter, Michelle 'Chelle' Wagoner and husband, Dwight, of Hays; three great-grandchildren, Cybil Wagoner of Hays, Doug Wagoner and wife, Rene, of Quinter, Bob Wagoner of Hays; and a sister Nellie Goetz and husband, Bud, of Salina.
Her parents; a grandson, Chad Brown; brothers, Lawrence, Melchoir, Wilfred Lang, an infant brother; and a sister, Rosie Kinderknecht preceded her in death.
Services for Frances will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in St. Michael Catholic Church at Collyer with visitation 9:30 AM until time of service.
