Obituary

Eula Mae Simpson was born August 21, 1922, in Welda, KS to the late James and Alma (Hyde) Tinsley. She passed away Monday, January 3, 2011, in the Gove County Medical Center at Quinter, KS at the age of 88.


She was a one-room school teacher for a few years before she married William Russell Simpson on February 3, 1945, in Garnett, KS. Bill passed away June 6, 2001.


Eula enjoyed reading, working with small children, and self-taught herself to crochet. She crocheted many bedspreads and other articles over the years. Eula and Bill enjoyed traveling with their camping club and spent many winters in Albuquerque, NM.


Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Ann Withers and husband, Harry, Altoona, Bonna Lee Wheeler and husband, Rick, Quinter; six grandchildren, Sharon Hopkins (Kenny), Gail Baker (Jim), Lisa Lemon (John), Leland Wheeler, Tonia Goodwin, Sean Wheeler (Stefania); fifteen great-grandchildren, William, Travis, and Abigail Baker, Jeffery, Jeremy, and Micheal Hopkins, Karin and Crystal Lemon, Ashley and Brandon Wheeler, Lacy, Nathan, Jocelyn and Natalie Goodwin, Emily Wheeler; and a sister, Mary Lou Barker and husband, Jack, Springfield, MO.


Her husband, Bill; a brother, Charles Tinsley; and a granddaughter, Betty Ann Withers preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2011, 5-7 PM with prayer service at 6:30 PM at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter, KS.

Services will be held 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Colony, KS with visitation 9:30 AM until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Church of the Brethren or Gove County Medical Center and can be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
