Ethel Mabel Ziegler, 86, of Hays, Kansas passed away on October 7, 2020 at the Hays Medical Center.  Ethel was born in Angelus, KS on December 24,1933 to Everet and Louise (Schwarz) Schroeder. She was a graduate of Grinnell High School.

Ethel was united in marriage to Leo Ziegler in Angelus, KS, on August 10, 1954; they were married for 48 years until his death in 2002.  She was a lifelong farmer and devout Catholic residing at the family farm near Collyer, KS.  She was an accomplished seamstress during her life, sewing and knitting clothing for her fellow residents at Ascension Living till the very end.   She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed card games, golf, puzzles and working the family farm.  She was also actively involved in volunteer work.

Ethel is survived by her sons Allen Ziegler and wife Lesly of Littleton, CO, Kevin Ziegler and wife Jennifer of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Dustin Benisch of Lee Summit, MO, Courtney Benisch of Chicago, IL, Katie Kellett of Corpus Christi, TX, Paige Michalik of Colorado Springs.  Eric Ziegler of Colorado Springs, CO, Jacob and Genessa Ziegler of Littleton, CO; brothers Ray and Don Schroeder of Angelus, KS; and sister Carol Maurath of Reno, NV.

Ethel was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Leo, daughter Sandra, brothers James and Kenney Schroeder and sisters Doris and Betty.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday October 17, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Collyer, KS. Fr. Charles Steier will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Rosary to begin at 9:45 am prior to the funeral mass at 10:30 am.
