Ethel Marjory Manz was born in rural Trego County, KS on April 17, 1922, to David and Mary (Lang) Schultz. She passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney at the age of 87.
She attended rural country schools and graduated from Trego Community High School in 1940.
On November 22, 1942, Ethel was united in marriage to Oswald Phillip Manz in WaKeeney. Together, they farmed north of WaKeeney. Oswald passed away October 12, 2009.
Ethel was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Randall Reid VFW Post #3449 Auxiliary, both in WaKeeney. Her hobbies included crocheting and playing bingo.
Survivors include a son, Larry and wife, Caroline, of WaKeeney; two grandsons, Trent Manz and wife, Donelda of Mulvane, Brett Manz of Albuquerque, NM; two step-granddaughters, Lori Zook and husband, Loren, of Topeka, Rhonda Hollis and husband, Murl, of Winfield; seven step-great-grandchildren, Melissa, C.J. Marissa, Breanna, Casey, Berett and Riley; and a nephew, Mike Michaelis and wife, Jennie, of Hays.
Preceeding her in death were her parents; her husband, Oswald of 67 years; a son, Stanley Manz; a sister, Frances Michaelis; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Manz.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church at WaKeeney with Pastor Randy Gibbs officiating. Inurnment will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
