Emma Arlene Cline, age 88, was born on April 9, 1936, in Ness City, Kansas the daughter of Fred Lawrence and Emma Irene (Fercking) Coker. She was number 8 in a family of 13 children. Arlene always said she was a daddy's girl.
John Cline, Jr. and Emma Arlene were married on June 9, 1953, in Ness City. They later moved to WaKeeney where they raised their four children.
Arlene attended school in Ness City but earned her GED in WaKeeney from the Trego School, graduating in 1972. She worked at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital for 7 years, then at Hays Travenol for 11 years until they closed the plant. She then went back to TCLM Hospital for another 7 years, then retired.
Arlene was a member of the Eta Nu chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eve Circle. Arlene enjoyed making and decorating all kinds of cake for any celebration. She also enjoyed watching TV and game shows of all kinds. She also read, put puzzles together, and looked up family histories on her GrandPad. Arlene loved camping, fishing, hunting, games of all kinds, family reunions, and celebrations.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel (Cynthia) Cline and Randy (Sandra) Cline; her grandchildren, Andrew (Caralee) Cline, Brandon (Tammy) Cline, Candance (Jason) Jewert, Jason (Jamie) Cline and Matthew (Jody) Cline; great-grandchildren, Chase Cline, Kaylee Jewert, Lizebeth Cline, Emma Cline, William Cline, A.J. Cline, Alex Cline, Aleigh Cline, Colin Cline, and Aden Cline. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Cline, Jr.; her son, John Allen Cline; her daughter, Linda Kathleen Cline; and her 12 siblings.
Visitation will be held at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, Kansas, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at the First United Methodist Church, WaKeeney on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in the WaKeeney Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Eve Circle of the First United Methodist Church.
Memories and words of support may be left for the family by writing in the guestbook.
