Elsymae Brown was born June 28, 1921, in Kanopolis, KS, to the late Joesph and Ruth (Bailey) Dolezal. She passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010, in the Gove County Medical Center at Quinter, KS at the age of 89.


She graduated from Ellsworth High School with the class of 1940 and attended Fort Hays State University.


On November 24, 1941, Elsymae was united in marriage to Anton 'Tony' Brown in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gorham, KS. Together they farmed in rural Trego County near Collyer. Tony passed away November 15, 1983.

Elsymae was an avid quilter and she loved to bake and cook.


Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Marianna Ziegler and husband, David, Kemp, TX, John Brown and wife, Marie, Greeley, CO, Gene Brown and wife Rex, Gillette, WY, and Jim Brown and wife Astrid, Wiggins, CO; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Lloyd Dolezal and wife Fern, Ellsworth, Edward Dolezal and wife, Barb, Paducah, KY; and a sister, Annetta Kyler, Kanopolis.

Her husband, Tony; a daughter, Margaret Brown; a son Nickolas Brown; and a grandson, Chad Brown preceded her in death.


A memorial service for Elsymae will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, November 12, 2010 in Schmitt Funeral Home at Quinter, KS with Father Donald Pfannenstiel officiating. Inurnment will be at 2:30 PM Friday, November 12, 2010 in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery at Gorham, KS.
