Eleanor 'Ella' Marie Walt was born May 14, 1917 on the family farm near Park, KS. She was the youngest of twelve children born to Joseph and Mary (Dreiling) Goetz. Ella passed away Monday, September 21, 2009 in the Trego Manor at WaKeeney at the age of 92.


As a child, Ella attended country schools in rural Park, KS area.


On October 23, 1939, Ella was united in marriage to Theodore 'Ted' E. Walt, Sr. in Park, KS. Together, they farmed for 50 years on the farm nine miles south of Collyer. Ted passed away November 20, 1982. Ella retired to WaKeeney in 1993 where she lived until her death.


Ella was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and Altar Society in Collyer. She enjoyed sewing and gardening during her spare times.


Those left to mourn Ella's passing are her son, Ted Walt, Jr. and wife, Rosemary, of Collyer; a daughter, Marquita 'Marg' Von Lintel and Larry Rupp, of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Larry Walt and wife, Angie, Terry Walt and wife, Laura, Patty Knop and husband, Jeff, all of Collyer, Amy Welch and husband, Matt, of Pasedena, CA, Megan Von Lintel of Kansas City; and seven great-grandchildren, Blaine and Derek Walt, Keith and Brittney Walt, Tyler Walt and wife, Christina, and Karly and Nikki Knop.


Preceding Ella in death was her husband, Ted; two children, Gary Walt and Joquetta Walt, a deceased infant; three sisters, Agnes Wildeman, Josephine Wittman, Hiroma Goetz; eight brothers, Leo Goetz in 1899, Leo Goetz in 1902, Albert Goetz, Raymond Goetz, Otto Goetz, William Goetz, Michael Goetz, and Leo J. Goetz in 2008.


Services for Ella were held Friday, September 25, 2009 in St. Michael Catholic Church at Collyer, KS with Fathers Don F. Pfannenstiel and Basil Torrez officiating. Interment is in St. Michael Cemetery.
