Obituary

Edward Clayton Hoover, age 71, of Fort Dodge (formerly of WaKeeney) passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Kansas Soldier's Home in Fort Dodge. He was born September 6, 1941, the son of Floyd C. and Grace Irene (Jordan) Hoover, in Iowa City, Iowa.

After graduating high school, Ed served our country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked in Colorado and Missouri. Then upon visiting some friends in WaKeeney, he decided to settle down there. On March 4, 1967, Edward was united in marriage to Mary. They divorced in 1970. He worked at Enersys in Hays until his retirement. He loved to cook, read, and watch tennis and old western shows on TV. He enjoyed doing woodworking, and was up to the challenge of fixing about anything. Even though Ed didn't care for large crowds, he enjoyed having company and always greeted guests with a smile. Ed will be dearly missed by numerous friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Herbert, and a sister Louise.

A memorial committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in WaKeeney with Pastor Stan Faulkender officiating. Ed's body was cremated, according to his wishes. There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, the Kansas Soldier's Home or Donor's Choice and may be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th Street, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
