Edna Dorene Walt Arnold was born on November 21, 1937 to Antone and Leocadia Walt in Quinter. She passed away January 20, 2014 at Trego Manor in WaKeeney. She was 76 years of age.
Edna attended grade school at the Banner Country School. After she graduated, she joined the I.C. Convent in Great Bend, where she earned her high school diploma. In 1962, she earned her B.S. Degree in Nursing. Then in 1967, she advanced her education by earning her Master's Degree. She worked at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend for many years. She loved working on the pediatric floor with the children. She had many stories to tell from her experience, both happy and sad. After leaving the convent, she worked for the State of Kansas, where she made home visits to check on the welfare of children. On February 6, 1976, Edna was united in marriage to George Dagley "Dag" Arnold in Cleveland, Ohio. They moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she was the administrator of the V.A. Hospital. After her retirement, she moved back home where she lived on the farm she grew up on. She enjoyed being home where she could be close to family and friends.
Survivors include two brothers, LaVern (Linda) of Collyer, and Albert (Alberta) of Ness City; many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Dag, and a sister, Louise.
A mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, in Collyer. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a parish vigil service immediately following at 7:00, both at the funeral home in WaKeeney.
