Obituary

Lifelong Park resident, Dorothy (Kinderknecht) Waldman, passed away, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter. She was 89 years of age. Dorothy was born January 28, 1926, in rural Sheridan County, near Park, to Alex and Anna (Bollig) Kinderknecht.

Dorothy was united in marriage to William Waldman, on September 21, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage together, until his death in 2001. Dorothy dedicated a good portion of her life to her church. She was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society in Park. She was baptized, received her first communion, confirmed, and married in the church. She loved life on the farm with her husband, farming, and raising cattle. Dorothy always put out a large vegetable garden to provide for her family. What was not consumed fresh during the growing season was canned for the winter months. She cherished her time spent with family and friends. Dorothy will be dearly missed by many.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell and wife Connie, and James and wife Barbara, all of Goodland; one daughter, Diane and husband David Steerman of Wamego; five grandchildren, Hollie Waldman, Joni (Jeff) Denton, Jason Waldman, Robin (Steve) York, and Travis Steerman; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Bradley, Corey, Emily, and Gregory York; two brothers, Robert and Charles Kinderknecht; and two sisters, Esther Mader and Thelma Wildeman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, William Dean Waldman, brothers, Julius, Eugene, Marvin, Cletus, and Virgil; and three infant sisters.
