Dorothy Jean Schneider was born July 6, 1940, in rural Ness County, KS near Brownell, to the late Clark and Lova Pearl (Boone) Smith. She passed away, Friday, February 3, 2012, in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney at the age of 71.
She attended schools in Brownell and Ransom.
On September 18, 1957, Dot was united in marriage to Kenneth Schneider in Mexico. Together, they farmed south of Trego Center until moving to WaKeeney in 1980. While in WaKeeney, Dot operated a day care at her home for over fifteen years.
Dot was a member of the First United Methodist Church in WaKeeney.
Surivors include her husband, Ken of the home; two sons, Kent of Texas, Mike and wife, Sirena, of WaKeeney; five grandchildren, Harm, Marc, and Sheena Schneider, Genna McClurg, and Nicole Barnett; eight great-grandchildren, Michael, Dylan, Brooklyn, Dakota, Dagen, Jadyn, Bella, and Hunter; a brother, Chuck Webber and wife, Alice, of Norman, OK; and a sister, Ruth Frey, Fort Worth, TX.
A daughter, Ginger Schneider; a brother, Marvin Smith; and two sisters, Joan Sunley and Fern Marhofer, preceded her in death.
A Memorial Service for Dot will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church at WaKeeney, KS. No Visitation is planned. Inurnment is in Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.
