Obituary

Doris A. Jamison was born April 1, 1923 to Walter and Bessie Pease. She went home to be with her Lord July 1, 2013 at the age of ninety.

Doris, the youngest of two children, was born in Kansas City, KS and lived there during her early childhood. Her family moved to McClave, CO where she lived until she married. Doris accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a teen and was baptized at that time.

On July 18, 1941, Doris married Dale Jamison and they were blessed with five children: Dalene, Dorothy, Gordon, Russell and Marcie. They lived in Quinter for their entire marriage. She was widowed when Dale died in 2007.

Doris served as a minister's wife with Dale after he was called into the ministry in 1942. She traveled with him extensively to revival meetings and Kenya and Mexico mission trips. She and Dale also enjoyed traveling to Florida, Texas, their cabin at White Pine, CO and to visit family and friends. She especially enjoyed going to church conferences.

Doris was an artist and enjoyed painting wood projects that Dale built. She was an expert seamstress, a perfectionist and a good cook. She also enjoyed having many pet dogs over the years, including raising Pekinese for a short time. She also sold World Book encyclopedias for a number of years. One of her favorite hobbies was gardening. She usually had a sizeable garden in the back yard with raspberries and many other fruits and vegetables. She canned much of her produce. Doris had a love for nursing and was always proud to have worked in the hospital nursery at Gove County Medical Center.

Survivors include her children: three daughters, Dalene Reinecker and her husband Rex, of Quinter, Dorothy Hefner of Shawnee, Marcie Keller of Hesston; two sons, Gordon and his wife, Marsha, Rusty and his wife, Beth, all of Quinter; fifteen grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.

Those who knew and loved Doris will remember her commitment to the Lord and to her husband. Even in her last years while her memory was mostly gone, she still exhibited a love for the Lord through her prayers and being able to remember all the words to many of the hymns she loved singing all her life.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Dunkard Brethren Church of Quinter. Burial was in Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter.

Visitation was from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gideon's International and may be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 South Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
