Donnetta Lee (Kiser) LaShell was born November 29, 1933 to Floyd and Fern (See) Kiser in Scott City, Kansas. She passed away at her home in WaKeeney on Saturday, November 29, 2014, her 81st birthday.
Donnetta was raised in Scott County, moving to Utica. She was united in marriage to Leo Edward LaShell on June 2, 1951, two weeks after graduation. They lived on their farm in Trego County for over 50 years, building a life together while raising seven wonderful children. In 2003, they moved to WaKeeney, where they spent their remaining years together.
Donnetta held many jobs in her life. First and foremost, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived her life for her family, loving and caring for all of them absolutely and unconditionally. She held other positions, such as a cook at the Utica School District, and at a cafe in Ransom. She was actively involved in her church, 4-H, and supporting school sports. In her spare time, she loved to read, play cards, crochet, and go on "adventures" with her group of friends from WaKeeney.
Survivors include two sons, Leo "Butch" (Barbara) LaShell of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Larry LaShell (Katy Kadlec) of Grand Junction, Colorado; five daughters, Brenda LaShell of Ulysses, Linda (Jim) Turley of WaKeeney, Sherry McGraw of Chattanooga, Tennesee, Suzanne (Darrell) Brown of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Jenette Lewis (Tim Epperson) of Ellis; grandchildren William LaShell, Patrick (Mari) LaShell, Heather LaShell, Terry Lutters, Alisha (Justin) Massingale, Justin Lutters, Lonna (Ross) Bartelson, Traci Turley, Kyra Turley (Tyler Fabrizius), Jami (Seth) Albers, Sean McGraw, Kelly (Bryan) Dickerson, Keisha Brown, Lindsey (Rodney) Zeboski, Kahle (J.D.)
