Obituary
Don Patterson was born October 20, 1937, at home in Glade, Kansas the son of James and Lois (Keeten) Patterson. He passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita at the age of 75 years, 40days.
He attended Agra schools and graduated from Agra High School with the class of 1955. He joined the United States Army in 1956. On May 31, 1962, he married Yvetta Adams at the Methodist Church in Scott City. In the process, he inherited three little darlings. Yvetta passed away on July 29th 2007. They enjoyed 45 years of marriage together. After discharge from the military, Don worked as a janitor for Quinter High School, and then in road and dirt construction as a heavy equipment operator. Don loved to fish and loved camping with family and friends. He was always up to date on current events and was a staunch Republican. He was also an avid Denver Broncos fan. Don was a fun loving person who loved to play a good joke and he had a special relationship with his siblings.
Don will be missed by many, including his family: one son Rocky Dean Adams and wife Joyce of Quinter; two daughters Vicky Lynn and husband Lon Borell of Utica, and Tamara Denise and husband J.R. Hutchison of Quinter; two brothers Ted Patterson and wife Sharon of Quinter and Joe Patterson and wife Ruth of Hays; one sister Patty Gruwell of Hays; seven grandchildren Tyce Yates and wife Sonja, Lancer Yates and wife Misty, Dennille Borell, Riley Adams and wife Tara, Cassie Adams, Adam Hutchison, and Heath Hutchison and wife Amber; four great grandchildren Andrew, Seaira, Bryce, and Kylea; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Church of the Brethren of Quinter with Pastor Keith Funk officiating. Inurnment will be in the Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter.
There will be no visitation as his body was cremated.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gove County Medical Center Auxiliary, and may be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 South Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
