Dennis Dixon Mahin was born on January 21, 1947, to Henry and Leanna Mahin. He passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 78.
Denny was born in Sedalia, Missouri. He spent his childhood and younger years near Knob Noster Missouri. On Oct 12, 1974, he was married to Charlotte Wolf from Quinter Kansas. They moved to Quinter Kansas when they were married but moved back to Knob Noster where they spent the next 5 years working on the family farm. They then moved back to Quinter where they spent the rest of their lives. Denny and Charlotte had 2 Children, Janelle and Norman. Charlotte passed away June 18 2015.
Denny spent his years in Quinter working for Quinstar, Fine Line, Porter Farms and Walt Emig. He truly enjoyed his time farming at Porter Farms and had a lot of stories to tell about his time there. Denny really enjoyed his time traveling and assembling equipment together with Walt Emig, his employer and friend. He had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. Denny also loved his garden and in his later years would often be found there, tinkering about the garden. He enjoyed sharing the fruit of it with all those around him. He enjoyed his grandchildren popping in and out of his home or taking him fishing somewhere.
Denny is survived by his children; daughter Janelle Bowman and husband Nathan; son Norman Mahin and wife Shelley; grandchildren Jack, Stewart, Reid, and Logan Bowman; grandchildren Allison, Leanna, Deborah and Isaac Mahin. He is also survived by his brother Ed Mahin and wife Rachelle, and his cousin Eleanor Davison and husband Leonard. Eleanor was like a sister to Denny. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Denny was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte, His parents Henry and Leanna, and son in law Nathan Metzger.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter, KS.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Quinter, KS. The burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery, Quinter, KS.
Memorial donations can be made to Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital Long-Term Care. Donations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 South Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
Denny will be loved and missed by all those who knew him.
