Delores (Goetz) Phlieger, age 94, of Quinter, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at Via Christi Saint Francis in Wichita, Kansas. Delores was born July 3, 1927, to Otto and Johanna (Mader) Goetz, the oldest of eleven children.
Delores was united in marriage to Pius Phlieger on October 23, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, Kansas. To this union, four children were born: Phil, Sharon, Rick, and Shirley. She was involved in many activities at Sacred Heart Parish including the Altar society, Daughters of Isabella, and serving meals for funerals.
She was happiest when she had completed a full day's work. Delores loved cooking for family and friends, and everyone was always welcome. As a wife and mother, Delores was fully involved with all aspects of farm life and enjoyed fulfilling each task. Later in life, Delores worked with her daughters Sharon and Shirley, and traveled to many destinations far and near.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband Pius; daughter Sharon Braun; son Rick Phlieger; brothers Elmer, Jim, Gene, Bob, and Delbert Goetz; and sister Pat Martin.
She is survived by son Phil Phlieger of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter Shirley (Lonnie) Morel of Grainfield, Kansas; son-in-law Jim Braun of Surprise, Arizona; grandson Dustin Braun of Surprise; granddaughter Melissa (Terrence) Lawver of Aurora, Colorado; great-grandchildren Brayden and Mackenzie Lawver of Aurora, and Teagan Braun of Surprise; brothers Larry (Florence), Tom (Pat); Chuck (Carolyn); and sister Gloria (Jim). She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter, with a parish vigil starting at 7:00 PM.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, Kansas, with Father James Thomas and Father Steve Heina as concelebrants. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care or Sacred Heart Altar Society. Donations to the organizations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S. Main St. Quinter, Kansas 67752.
