Obituary

Deborah Kay Pfannenstiel was born September 21, 1961 in Hays, Kansas. She was the middle of three children born to Darrel James and Firma Jean (Kreutzer) Pfannenstiel. She passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2009 in her home in WaKeeney, KS.

Debbie attended WaKeeney Grade School from kindergarten to eighth grade. She attended Trego Community High School where she was a cheerleader and a member of the track team, was a straight "A" student, and was known as the "funny girl."

Following high school, she married and had two daughters Elizabeth Renee Ziegler and Elaine Kay Ziegler. On September 10, 1993, Debbie was united in marriage with Thomas G. Schneider in Bethlehem Lutheran Church at WaKeeney.

Debbie spent most of her years working in different capacities in the restaurant industry. She was an amazing cook and loved to play hostess to crowds. She was known for preparing large feasts of food, in particular her Super Bowl spreads. She was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos. Debbie loved Elvis Presley, country music, reruns of "I Love Lucy," and Christmas music, which she started playing in November each year. She adored all animals and had two dogs, Elvis and Elway.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas; two daughters, Elaine Ziegler of Hays and Elizabeth Ziegler of Los Angeles, CA; a brother Calvin Pfannenstiel and wife, Amanda; and a sister, Brenda Schoenberger and husband, Kevin all of WaKeeney.

Today, we must bid Debbie farewell and remember her smile that brightened our days like sunshine and a spirit that will glow forever in the memories that we shared.

Services for Debbie were held Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney with Father Donald F. Pfannenstiel officiating. Interment is in Christ the King Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Deborah Pfannenstiel Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
