Obituary

Dean Gerard Heier passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, in his home in Cedar Park, Texas, at the age of 64. He was born on December 3, 1960, in Hoxie, Kansas, to Elmer and Edna (Goetz) Heier.

Dean grew up in northwest Kansas and graduated in 1979 from Wheatland High School in Grainfield. After high school, Dean attended Northwest Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School in Goodland, Kansas, where he studied electricity and further developed the skills that would serve him in becoming a master electrician in the Garden City, Kansas area and the Austin, Texas area. Dean was an avid hunter and an enthusiastic collector of Texas history memorabilia, often seeking out unique treasures from many different areas of the Austin and San Antonio areas. A passionate supporter of University of Texas Longhorn sports programs, he often would share moments of many exciting games. One of his favorite memories was serving as the master electrician during the Longhorn Alumni football tailgate events for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Edna Heier, and his older brother, Kendall (Carol) Heier.

Dean is survived by his brothers: Larry (Mary) Heier, John Heier, Alan Heier, and Paul Heier; sisters Janelle Heier, Judy Heier, Cheryl (James) Helms, and Emma Heier; fifteen nieces and nephews: Tammy Heier, Keith Heier and wife Niki, Ryan Heier, Erin Bailey, Sarah Toennis and husband Alex, Peter Heier, Regina Chriestenson and husband Trent, Joseph Heier, Megan Hammond, Nicole Hammond, Brad Hammond, Allyson Heier, Sheila Helms, Kaitlyn Heier, and Hunter Heier; twelve grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Rebecca Heier, Shawn Carrell, Bellis Heier, Elizabeth Heier, Everett Heier, Erica Bailey, Clayton Bailey, Juliann Bailey, Taylor Chriestenson, Elizabeth Chriestenson, Tatum Toennis, and Tenley Toennis; and two great-grandniece and nephew twins, Agustin and Amelia Lopez.

Family and friends are invited to pray the rosary at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, followed by a celebration of Mass at 10:30 a.m., both at St. Agnes Church in Grainfield, Kansas. Interment will follow in Grainfield Cemetery.
