David William Hillman was born in Eldorado, KS, on June 9, 1950, to the late Henry and Gladys (Pearce) Hillman. He passed away Monday, March 21, 2011, in the Hays Medical Center at the age of 60. He worked as a gas supervisor for the Dillons Store in Hays.
David had been a resident of Ogallah since he moved to this area with his parents when he was six years old. He graduated from Trego Community High School with the class of 1969 and received an associate's degree in auto mechanics from the Northwest Kansas Area Vocational Technical School in Goodland, KS.
On August 14, 1971, David was united in marriage to Sharon Luea in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Ellis.
David was known as Mr. Fix-it. He tried his hand at fixing almost anything. He made cabinets for his house and loved to do woodworking. His family was his greatest enjoyment and he was a super joke teller and prankster. Other hobbies included fishing and gardening.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Sharon, of Ogallah; two daughters, Jenny and Becky Hillman, both of WaKeeney; three grandchildren, Bethany, Aaron, and Jacob Schneider; a brother, James Hillman and wife, Rosa, of Downey, CA; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, March 25, 2011 in Church of God at WaKeeney. Interment is in Ogallah Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday in Schmitt Funeral Home at WaKeeney.
