Obituary

Darlene Katherine Schwarzenberger was born November 4, 1935, in Grainfield, KS, to the late John and Christina (Kaiser) Dinkel. She passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, in the Gove County Medical Center at Quinter, KS at the age of 75.


She attended school in Grainfield and graduated from Grainfield High School with the class of 1954.


On April 26, 1955, Darlene was united in marriage to Frank Schwarzenberger in Grainfield. Darlene worked side by side with Frank on their dairy farm for thirty-five years.


Darlene was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, and the Altar Society, both in Collyer. During her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and puzzle books. She treasured the times spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Frank, of the home; a son, Larry and special friend, Mary Beth Rose, both of Quinter; a daughter, Sandy Jacobs and husband, Jim, of Phillipsburg; three grandchildren, Jari Jacobs and wife, Karen, Kellen Jacobs and wife, Emily, Jennifer Jacobs; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Teyah Jacobs; two brothers, Richard Dinkel of Waverly, LeRoy Dinkel and wife, Joan, of Grainfield; and three sisters, Mary Halford of Salina, Louella Zerr and husband, Willie, of Oakley, and Loretta Billinger of Alamogordo, NM.


Her parents; and a sister, Frances Shipman, preceded her in death.

Visitation for Darlene will be 5:30-7:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter, KS.

Services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in St. Michael Catholic Church at Collyer, KS with Father Donald Pfannenstiel officiating. Interment is in the church cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the National Jewish Research or Masses and can be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
