Clarence George Wiedeman, age 79, of WaKeeney, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. He was born November 26, 1935, to George and Susanna (Eichman) Wiedeman, on the family farm, near Brownell. He was baptized December 22, 1935 at the Zion Lutheran Church at Trego Center by Reverend Waldschmidt. His sponsors were Florence Michaelis Hladek and Alvin Wiedeman. He was confirmed April 10, 1949, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Reverend K. DeFreese. He graduated from Junior High in 1952, but was unable to go further, due to an illness. He stayed home to help take care of his parents. Clarence entered the Nursing Home in Russell on February 1, 1993, when his mother could no longer stay home and had to go to the Long Term Care in WaKeeney. He moved to a nursing home in Wichita, before finally moving to the Trego County Long Term Care in 2001.
Survivors include one sister, Frances Michaelis of WaKeeney; six nieces and nephews, Arla and husband Allaire Homburg of Stockton, Tye Michaelis and wife Lisa of Topeka, Jerry Wiedeman and wife Dianne of Hays, Dale Wiedeman and wife Mary Lou of Hays, Susan and husband John Kraus of Ransom, Connie and husband John Braumbaugh of Oregon; and eight grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hubert; a brother-in-law, Elmer Michaelis; and two grand nephews, Shane and Bradley Wiedeman.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. Burial will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
