Obituary

Christopher Ian Kerr-Hunter, age 59, of WaKeeney, Formerly of Frimley Green, United Kingdom, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Hays Medical Center. Christopher was born July 9, 1954 in Ahmadi, Kuwait while his father was working for the Kuwait Oil Company there.

As a child, Christopher attended school at facilities run by the US in Kuwait, and then moved to the UK with his family and began school there when he was 6. His early remembrance of the UK was in a town called Brimpton. His family owned a small bakery. As a teen and young adult he worked for his father in his construction company as well as a few odd jobs. He continued his education by taking classes and correspondence courses to complete an advanced degree in electronics. He was married briefly to Freda Hunter in the early 70's. He met and married Jacqueline Carol Edwards in 1979 and they shared 27 years of marriage together. During this time he held many diverse jobs including being a DJ for parties and events. He co-owned several companies with his then-wife, Jackie, including Kerr-Hunter Power Tools and Aldershot Tool Hire (An equipment rental store) in Aldershot, UK, Eden Cars in Frimley Green, UK (A private Taxi Company), and Eden Bed and Breakfast which was an addition that he built onto his residence. He was also a Diamond Ambassador in the Neways Corporation, a Multi-Level Marketing Company. Christopher met and married Debra Young Gosser of WaKeeney, KS on Febrary 19, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Christopher made his voyage West in December of 2005, purchased a home and WaKeeney Garden & Greenhouse which He and Debra changed to Eden Garden Center & Florist. Christopher was a singer/songwriter/guitarist who wrote many songs and loved to play classic rock such as the Beatles, John Lennon, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, and Elvis. He was an avid fisherman when he moved to the US and loved to visit ponds and small lakes located around WaKeeney. He enjoyed repairing motors or electrical items and his motto for his Tool Hire business in the UK was, "If man built it, we can fix it." He was an avid reader and was always looking to get his hands on new material to read. For this reason, he spent many hours a day on the Internet reading articles and investigating conspiracies. He loved gardening, but with the climate difference between the UK and Kansas, he was frustrated with the degree of extremes here, and so, resolved himself to work very hard to enjoy the spring in Kansas as much as possible. He loved to plant seeds for the upcoming spring bedding plants in the greenhouse. He played golf, loved to draw, and was an accomplished chef in the kitchen. He loved antiques and travel. His passion was always as a storyteller. He loved an audience to tell his stories to and anyone who sat to listen would learn something intriguing about him, the longer you listened, the more he thought to talk about. He never ran out of stories and seemed to file them neatly in his mind that he could retrieve them on command. He had an incredible memory and an active imagination which enchanted children and delighted adults.
He will be greatly missed by those who are left behind to share his memories. His wife, Debra of the home, his children, Michelle Hunter Beynon and husband Ben of France, Richard Alan Kerr-Hunter and wife Hayley of the UK, and Kelly Marie Kerr-Hunter Gunn and husband Simon of the UK. He will also be missed by his sisters Helen Timms and husband Derrick, and Eileen Bradley both of the UK.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alan and Gloria Kerr-Hunter, a sister Jeanne, a brother Tony and a brother-in-law Tony Bradley, all of the UK.

Christopher will be remembered in a gathering at the VFW in WaKeeney on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
