Catherine 'Kay' Theresa Flagler was born on the family farm in rural Ellis County, KS, to the late Joseph L. and Catherine (Jacques) Weber. She passed away Saturday May 19, 2012, in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney at the age of 89.
As a child, she attended rural schools in Ellis County and graduated from Ellis High School with the class of 1941.
On January 7, 1947, Kay was united in marriage to Reuben Flagler in Ellis, KS. Together, they farmed in Trego County.
Kay was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and the Altar Society, both in WaKeeney. She worked as the Office Manager for the Western Kansas World for several years until she retired. In her spare time, Kay enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, sewing, playing cards and Bingo, and singing.
Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Jeannette Heili and husband, Art, of Grainfield, Deborah Ross and husband, Chuck, of Hays, Tim Flagler and wife, Mary, of Overland Park, Reg Flagler and wife, Karen, of WaKeeney; a brother, Joseph F. Weber of Ellis; two sisters, Helen Kohl of Hays, Rose Marie Blasing, of Topeka; twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Reuben; a grandchild, Greg Ross; two brothers, Alfred and Frances 'Bud' Weber; and a sister, Theresa Weber, preceded her in death.
Services for Kay will be at Christ the King Catholic Church in WaKeeney KS, Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 10:30 A.M.
Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, May 21, 2012 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney, with Vigil Service starting at 7:00 P.M.
