Carroll J. Baker was born August 18, 1933, in rural Trego County, KS, to the late Fred S. and Edith (Wolf) Baker. He passed away in Rossville, IN on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the age of 77.
He graduated from Quinter High School in 1952. He worked in construction as a millwright for 40 years with Kettlehunt, and also worked for Staley, which later became Tate & Lyle and St. Elizabeth Hospital. He also farmed in Clinton County for 60 years.
Carroll was a member of the Carpenters' Union Local 252, Grace Lutheran Church and the Wildcat Creek Foundation. Although Carroll never married, he was a Conversationalist and Environmentalist, and a world traveler, visiting Europe nineteen times. His favorite pastimes were walking in the woods, canoeing, and studying world history and genealogy.
Survivors include sisters, Edis Brovont and husband, George, Delphi, IN, Jane Bennett and husband, Curtis, Monterey, CA, Jean Flora and husband, Dale, North Manchester, IN, and Geraldine Yoder and husband, Dean, Delphi, IN; a brother, Dr. Eldon Baker and wife, Betty Rose, also of Delphi, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 27, 2011 in Rossville, IN
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 29, 2011 in the Gove Cemetery.
