September 16, 1937 – June 1, 2023
Carole Ann Zerr, age 85, of Quinter, KS, passed away Thursday, June 1st, 2023, at the Sheridan County Hospital, Hoxie, KS. Services will be held on Monday, July 10th at 10 am at the Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter, KS. Burial will take place at the Baker Township Cemetery in Quinter immediately following the service. Lunch will be served directly following the service, at the Eagles Lodge in WaKeeney.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Garry Zerr, parents Laurence and Elba Berry, sisters Audine (Dale) Richards, Donna (Jim) Dugan, and brother Larry (Reva) Berry. She is survived by her children Denise Billinger, Russell KS, Julie (Jerry) Tynon, Kansas City, MO, Carla Bujnoch, Van Vleck TX. Paula Buchholz, Quinter KS, and Blaine (Stephanie) Buchholz, WaKeeney KS., Grandchildren Brandon Knipp and wife Shelby, Russell KS, Amanda Bujnoch, Kansas City MO, Demi Bujnoch, Bay City TX, Austin (Kyley) Wancura, Colby KS. and Great Grandchildren Kaitlyn, Mason, Braxton and Skye Knipp, Alexandria, Onykah, and Krysta Bujnoch, and Evan Wancura. A special mention to Karen, Jacob, Jillian and Ashley Sanders, and Landon Smith, NM. Carole is survived by her sister Sharon (Ted) Patterson, Quinter, KS and many nieces, nephews. and friends.
A favorite pastime of hers was bowling. She bowled in local leagues for many years and traveled to State tournaments with her teams across Kansas and even went on a trip to Reno, NV for the National's by train. One of the highlights of her bowling career was when she received her Grand Duchess pin at State for still bowling at the age of 70.
From a young age, Carole worked at her parents' restaurants in Quinter & Plainville. She also spent many years as a cook and waitress in restaurants around WaKeeney.
Carole was always glad when her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit her. She'd always try and find something to feed them. They all loved it when she cooked fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and boy could she make awesome pies!
