Obituary

Carl Allen Barrows, Jr, age 48, passed away at Gove County Medical Center on February 14, 2015 due to complications from his fight with cancer.

Carl was born on October 10, 1966 in Binghamton, N.Y. to Carl Sr and Sharon Barrows. He attended Harpursville Jr.-Sr. High School. Carl served as Chief of the Harpursvillle Fire Department for many years. On June 16, 2001 Carl was joined in marriage to Michelle Lynn Drum. They lived in Harpursville, N.Y. and worked at Country Pines Adult Care Facility for many years where Carl was the Administrator of the facility. In their spare time, they spent many hours at Belden Hill Golf Course with friends and family.

In 2007 they moved from the Big Apple to the Land of Oz. Carl was a Chef at heart and so their first adventure was the opening of the Trackside Pizza & Deli in Park, KS. Many people enjoyed his steak sandwiches, hot wings, chicken speedies (a New York specialty) and pizza. Friends often met together at Trackside to visit, play cards and sing Karaoke.

For the past 5 years, Carl was employed at the Dairy Queen in Quinter, KS. He immensely enjoyed his DQ days and serving so many friends. His time at the DQ came to an end after being diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth. The past 6 months has been a hard road for Carl. He had 7 surgeries and 6.5 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. He was so happy to finish his treatments and move back home. His first mission was to go see his new 6 wk old puppy he named Kemo.

Surviving Carl is his beloved wife, Michelle Barrows of the home, his son, Adam & wife Marcie Barrows of PA., daughter, Ashleigh & husband, Adam Moorehead of N.Y., mother, Sharon Barrows of Greene, N.Y., father, Carl Sr. of Lisle, N.Y., sister Barb Goetz of Park, KS, brother Robert & wife Becky Barrows of Greene, N.Y., half-brother, Grayson & wife Denise Barrows of Fort Worth, TX, half-sister, Casssie Barrows of Ithaca, N.Y., step sons Timothy & wife Camela Drum and William & wife Tiffany Kasmarcik all of Park, KS., four grand-daughters & two grandsons, 7 nieces and nephews, and many, many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and caring friends.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Robert & Margaret Barrows and Richard & Grace Mills.

Throughout his life, Carl & Michelle enjoyed golfing, woodworking, playing cards, visiting with friends and family. He will be dearly missed by many.
