Candy Sue Jamison, 60, Quinter, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at home with her husband Galen, friends Steve Hein and Jack Urban at her side. She was born May 21, 1956, in Wakeeney, KS, to Clarence Sr. and Donna Schneider. She married Galen R. Jamison Oct. 22, 1977.
Describing Candy brings to mind words and emotions of love, laughter, tears, joy, kindness, boldness, brashness, goodness, giftedness, just to name a few. She hid nothing about who she was, you knew where she stood on issues. If she took a stand, she took it boldly. She loved deeply and fiercely. Together she and Galen built a marriage, a home, a relationship that was appreciated and perhaps even envied by friends and family.
Working in home health care from the age of 15 to 2006, she possessed the gift of care and compassion, caring for physical and emotional needs, being an advocate to doctors, nurses, and family. Galen assisted Candy to bring joy to clients by taking them fishing, to a wedding dance, shopping, or out to eat; whatever they desired. It could be heard from clients, "this was one of the best days of my life!"
Candy shared her gift of photography with everyone. Most days she Facebooked an amazing photo of a sunrise or sunset. Not a day will go by in any of our lives without thinking of Candy and her love and appreciation for nature and creation. As an artist, she could design something from what most of us would discard, she could turn it into a thing of beauty. Having unbound energy and appreciation for life, rather than simply walk, she danced doing house work, dancing on daily walks, dancing from one end of the house to the other! She loved kids and animals, treating all royally and equally, nieces and nephews and children of friends called her Aunt Candy. She especially loved the mountains, living at one time in both Colorado and Oregon. She and Galen were able to take a trip to Colorado for a family reunion in July where she again enjoyed her love of the mountains.
Hitting her 5 year mark early 2016 of being cancer free, she and Galen were beyond joy and had many dreams and plans for their future. But when a cancer diagnosis came again in September 2016, fear could have disabled them, but they faced it head on. Candy never feared death or eternity with God. Her fear was leaving behind Galen, the love of her life for 40 years, their dogs and her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband Galen, of Quinter, brothers Richard Schneider and wife Joan, Clarence Schneider Jr and wife Laura, sister Sharon Golden, all of Wakeeney, a sister P.J. LaFave and husband Jim, of California. Candy was preceded in death by her parents and sister Tabby.
Memorials can be sent to Hays DAV Chapter 18, c/o Michael Dreiling Treasurer, 2764 Mt. Pleasant Rd, Victoria KS 67671.
