Anna Marie Whiteman was born May 9, 1940, to Oatis & Thelma (Beaver) Patton in Scott City, Ks. Anna suddenly went to be with the Lord, her family and friends the morning of August 13, 2011.
A graduate of Scott City High School, she married Vernon Whiteman on October 16, 1959, and to this union were born, Chris, Kari (Pontious), Len, Georgia (Allen), & Teresa (Jeffries).
Anna retired from the Jefferson County Colorado School District where she served as a cafeteria manager for 25 years. In 2001, Anna and Vern moved from Arvada, CO to Quinter, KS where she worked at the Grainfield Public Library. Later, she worked in the Park Post Office.
Anna attended church in the Quinter area, always loved the Lord, and trusted in Him through her day-to-day life. Anna enjoyed staying actively involved with her family members, reading a good book, and helping those around her smile.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon; her five loving children; Chris (Bonnie), Kari Pontious (Tony), Georgia Allen (Jim), all of the Denver, CO area, Len of Quinter, Teresa Jeffries (Doug) of Helena, MT; a brother, Henry (Carol) of Lakin, KS; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Raquel Whiteman.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter. Services will be 10:30 AM Friday at Quinter United Methodist Church with Reverend Larry Danforth officiating. Interment is in the Scott City Cemetery, Scott City, KS.
