Obituary

Anna Mae Bergquist was born October 21, 1995, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Bryan and Treva (Wilson) Bergquist. She passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010, as a result of a vehicle accident in rural Trego County at the age of 14.

In May of 2010, Anna graduated from the Trego Grade School.

She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was a mass server and was looking forward to participating in the CYO group. Anna also was a member of the school cheerleading squad, volleyball team, track team and took dance classes. She was adamantly opposed to playing basketball even though she was tall. She was secretary of the Busy Kansans 4-H Club in WaKeeney.

Anna's great spirit of love and love for people was reflected in her social activities. Her artisitc personality was demonstrated in the many pictures she drew, sidewalks she chalked, and pictures she picniked on facebook. She had a huge heart for her friends and family. She also enjoyed horseback riding whenever time allowed.

Those left to mourn her passing are her parents, Bryan and Treva; a sister, Audra, all of WaKeeney; paternal grandparents, Don and DeAnna Bergquist of McCracken; maternal grandmother, Verlene Wilson of WaKeeney; and a great-grandmother, Lydia Schoenberger of WaKeeney; uncle Clayton Wilson and wife, Kizmin, of WaKeeney; aunt Dana Strickland and husband, Patrick Mintner, of Abilene; and three cousins, Gunner Wilson, Bryce Strickland, and Blayke Mintner.

Her maternal grandfather, Jack Wilson; and great-grandparents, Vic Schoenberger, Rudy and Viola Bergquist, and Clifford and Madie Newland preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 2, 2010, 2-7:30 PM with family meeting friends 5-7:30 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. A vigil service will be held at 7:30.

Services for Anna will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the Trego Community High School Gym at WaKeeney.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Anna Mae Bergquist Memorial Fund (to be divided for CYO trip, Cheerleading Squad, Volleyball Team, and Livestock Pavilion 4-H Bldg) and can be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
