Alma Helen Krhut was born on July 19, 1915 in Collyer, KS, the daughter of Steven Engel and Mary (Razak) Krhut. She left this earth on May 11, 2012, at the age of 96.
Alma attended country grade school in Trego County and graduated May 31, 1930. She then went to high school in Collyer, KS and received her diploma on May 19, 1934. She lived on the farm with her parents. After her mother's passing, she helped her father with the cattle and farming. Then upon his passing, she continued to farm for another six years, until retiring. She remained on the farm until August of 2000 when she moved into the Trego Manor.
She belonged to the Union Women's club, enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers, and was known for her bread baking that was made with her homemade flour. She was a joy to all of those lives she touched.
Her parents and a sister, Hattie Rodgers, preceded her in death. She will be greatly missed by her adopted family, Linda and LaVern Walt and sons, her caregivers at the Trego Manor; and her many friends.
Services for Alma will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in Schmitt Funeral Home at WaKeeney. Interment is in Union Cemetery at Collyer, KS. Visitation is 9:00 to 10:00 Tuesday before the service.
