Albert Virgil Snyder, age 84, of Osborne, KS, passed away on January 23, 2020, at Parkview Care Center, Osborne. Albert was born in Bloomington, KS on August 9, 1935 to Lawrence Albert and Valda Edna (Conn) Snyder.
Albert graduated from Osborne High School in 1953, where he was active and lettered in all sports. After graduation, he chose to serve his country for 11 years in the United States Army. Upon returning to civilian life, Albert worked as a long-haul trucker, traveling throughout the country, until retirement. Even as a young boy, he loved to go fishing. He and his sister would spend their summer vacation catching fish to bring home for their mother to cook. Albert enjoyed travelling, visiting his friends and family and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Albert is survived by his sons John and Virgil; daughters, Angie and Susie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters Grace Abbott and Barbara Bergmans.
Albert was preceded in death by both parents; wife Charlotte (Hilburn) Snyder; son Daryl; and daughter Mary Kay.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Baker Township Cemetery at 9:30 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 with Stan Smith officiating. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Albert Snyder memorial fund. Donations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 South Main St. Quinter, KS 67752.
